Careers

OUR VISION

IS TO PROVIDE AN INSPIRING, ENGAGING, AND INFORMATIVE CAREERS STRATEGY WHICH IS ACCESSIBLE FOR ALL

At Cockshut Hill School, we are dedicated to advancing an exceptional careers education provision for all students. Our objectives are to raise aspirations, broaden the scope of extracurricular engagement, and offer meaningful exposure to the world of work. We seek to equip students with the necessary employability skills while further strengthening the delivery of Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG), thereby ensuring they are well-prepared for future pathways.

A well-structured CEIAG programme is instrumental in supporting young people as they make informed decisions and navigate the transition from education to employment. We firmly uphold the principle that all students aged 11–16 should be provided with the knowledge, understanding, and skills required to make sound and confident career choices.

We are extremely proud to announce that Cockshut Hill School has successfully achieved the Quality in Careers Standard for 2026–2029.

This prestigious re-accreditation through Investors in Careers recognises the school’s continued commitment to delivering outstanding careers education, information, advice and guidance for all students, fully incorporating the Gatsby Benchmarks.

Achieving this nationally recognised standard reflects the dedication of our staff, the strength of our careers programme, and our ongoing commitment to preparing students for successful futures in education, employment and training.

Careers Programme

Our programme embeds the eight Gatsby Benchmarks;

  1. A stable careers programme
  2. Learning from career and labour market information
  3. Addressing the needs of each young person
  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
  5. Encounters with employers and employees
  6. Experience of workplaces
  7. Encounters with further and higher education
  8. Personal guidance

Evidence shows that those institutions successfully implementing all eight benchmarks achieve the most positive outcomes for young people. (The Gatsby Charitable Foundation)
