Honoured with National UK Feminista Awards

Learner Leadership and Staff Commitment Celebrated at UK Feminista Awards

Cockshut Hill School, part of the Summit Learning Trust, has been recognised on the national stage for its commitment to creating safer and more inclusive school environments.

At a ceremony held in London this month, Summit Learning Trust was awarded the UK Feminista Silver Award for its impactful work on tackling sexual harassment.

Representing the Trust at the awards were Mrs Kosir, who has numerous positions at the school including student leadership lead, and Hanfa, a Year 10 learner and member of the student leadership team. They accepted the award on behalf of all those across Summit Learning Trust who have contributed to this vital work.

This prestigious award highlights the powerful, ongoing efforts being made across the trust to empower learners, raise awareness, and create lasting cultural change within schools. It also honours the courageous learners who have spoken up and shaped meaningful dialogue around these issues.

The UK Feminista’s Award Scheme recognises schools and colleges that take meaningful action to tackle sexism and sexual harassment through a comprehensive whole-school approach. Those who have taken significant, sustainable action are eligible to apply for the UK Feminista: Action Award, which is presented in bronze, silver, or gold categories.

Zaffren Kosir, Student Leadership Lead at Cockshut Hill School said:

“Attending the UK Feminista Awards alongside fellow staff, and learners from Summit Learning Trust was an inspiring experience. We were proud to receive the Silver Award for our work on tackling sexual harassment. It was a beautiful event, hosted by Samira Ahmed (BBC Journalist & writer) and it was truly moving to hear from other winners and learn about the impactful work being done across the country. The evening was a powerful reminder of the change we can create when we work together for equality and safety.”
